MEANStack March Madness R2 and the Web Dev Weekend Challenge
I'm figuring out how to make my little project work out - not how I imagined it, but its working out for me

Full Stack March Madness - Rd 1 & 2
So this Full Stack March Madness thing didn’t play out like it did in my head, but it never does anyway. Initially I intended to do a short and sweet little project for each tech stack - yeaaahhh, that’s not gonna happen with me. I can make a Jamstack blog in 5 minutes, but this one took me all week to make it. It’s because I wasted a bunch of time trying to make a cool special thing, when really I just needed to start coding.
I didn’t expect a lot of people to be fired up about the inaugural MEANStack Developer March Madness - or even understand what it is for that matter lol…
But even if it gets me laughed at, it’s been totally worth the productivity push. It took me a bit to get going because of the learning and research, but I have about 5-6 really cool little projects going for this that I am going to use to promote my career. (I’m still on the market by the way, software companies - I’m looking at you IBM, Cisco, and Ubuntu Linux).
The first project I created is a simple Jamstack blog that I forked from a repo by Kevin Powell and turned into a fully customizable CMS blog website that is awesome. You can visit mtman.ventures here and see how simple and awesome the Jamstack blog is. That literally took me 20ish minutes to set up all the routes and backend - the only thing that took time was the HTML and CSS → moving to markdown.
These blogs are really cool and I’m making them right now for a great price of $29.99 and your first 3 months free while I continue to improve the app.
I plan on doing an article or a YouTube video for each project, so hang tight! I’ll have a lot of content coming soon.
Weekend Web Dev Challenge:
Can you make a website with nothing but the terminal?
So I have been using a lot of vim lately and coding through the terminal. Yeah maybe that sounds weird to you, but to me it was like having a giant machine gun that fires .50 cal bullets. I try to use the terminal as much as I possibly can, because I absolutely love the command-line, although it is an acquired taste.
I nearly coded an entire MERN API app from the terminal and it was both awesome and hilarious. I am going to make a YouTube video of me coding a whole website from the terminal this weekend and post it for my new little Friday segment I’m starting called the Weekend Web Dev challenge. I’ll post an odd/interesting/easy challenge over the weekend for anyone to try! If you do it, send me your results and I’ll feature you in the Newsletter. Don’t make it just be a bunch of my websites….
I actually wrote all of this while sitting on the phone waiting on the IRS for 3 hours
Yes indeed. Money is tight and they are holding our tax return and not telling us anything, other than to keep calling and waiting in the queue until nothing remains but a skeleton, trying to figure out how to get his tax return.
I need to get back to coding work, but I will have a lot of content soon - so if you’re thinking about the paid subscription, do it! Anything helps me in my web development endeavors. I plan on having some cool tutorials that I’m working on and stuff like that.
Until next time folks!
Oh and before I go, I figured I’d leave you some proof of my long wait on the IRS:
